Total Commander is a freeware Orthodox File Manager (OFM) for Windows. Some features include a built-in FTP client, file compare, archive file navigation, and a versatile multi-rename tool with regular expression support.

Features in Total Commander 7.55 now include :

  • Compare files (now with editor) / synchronize directories

  • Tabbed interface, regular expressions, history+favorites buttons
  • Thumbnails view, custom columns, enhanced search
  • Compare editor, cursor in lister, separate trees, logging, enhanced overwrite dialog etc.
  • Unicode names almost everywhere, long names (>259 characters), password manager for ftp and plugins, synchronize empty dirs, 64 bit context menu, quick file filter (Ctrl+S)
  • New: USB port connection via special direct transfer cable, partial branch view (Ctrl+Shift+B), and many imporvements to ftp, synchronizing and other functions

Changes on the new version:

- Fixed: Internal unpack function didn't ask to overwrite target if the target directory allowed to write, but not to list the directory contents
- Fixed: Do not use CONNECT_PROMPT option for UNC servers in the form \\server, only for shares
- Fixed: If PromptForUser=1, do not call connect function if already connected (check via WNetGetUser)
- Fixed: cd \\server\share /user: didn't work on the command line
